The rules seem to be changing all the time and some rules still seem to be unwritten and thus harder to follow.
The best advice as of now: Do your best to avoid breaking any of them unless SIC decides to not follow one or more rules.
And don't be a jerk.
Also: As there are no set rules for sanctions or consequences these will vary greatly, take care so you are not the one that is hit harder than the rest

Try to be respectful and avoid conflict. This applies to our interactions with both big and small alliances. The big to avoid conflict and the small because we are not jerks.
As SIC, we do not wish to be jerks. But we also don't want to be pushed around.
To not be a jerk, keep respecting the distance to other hives as long as they also respect the distance to us. So for us, changing rules still mean we stay away from other hives, but we must accept that others may come close to us.
